Naomi Curland is the executive director for Longmont Food Rescue, and also serves as the treasurer of Colorado EcoWomen and secretary for Recycle Colorado’s Composting Council. Naomi has spent the last decade in the environmental nonprofit sector, with a focus on food waste reduction and rescue, as well as community organizing with the Transition Town movement and facilitating workshops for Pachamama Alliance and Project Drawdown. On the SRL board, Naomi is especially interested in youth outreach and mentorship, and zero waste relating to our food systems. She currently chairs SRL’s Zero Waste Committee, and her other passions include hiking, art, and teaching.

Alyssa is a 10+ year sustainability professional with a background in corporate ESG strategy and nonprofit management. She is currently the Director of Sustainability for Estée Lauder Companies, where she manages global programs including renewable energy procurement, product circularity, fleet electrification, and green buildings. She has a long history of sustainable volunteerism in Boulder County, including working with local nonprofits like Growing Gardens, Metro Caring, and Conscious Alliance, and serving as a member of the City of Longmont’s Equitable Climate Action Team since 2024. As part of her commitment to sustainability and environmental justice, Alyssa has previously served on several other boards of directors, including Naturally Boulder, Climate Collaborative, and Garden To Table, supporting corporate and community resilience and sustainability.

Fundamentally an optimist with a deep love for the rugged beauty of our Front Range environment, Heather believes every problem is an opportunity in disguise. She began her career in consulting where she crafted solutions to large-scale regulatory and legal questions in the utility sector. To be more available for her two children, she took a pause in her career to educate them at home. Heather has developed a love for and growing expertise in renewable energy and is marshaling her skills in database and project management, literature review and systems thinking in the service of our urgent need to transition to clean energy. Believing that this vast and intricate challenge is also a once in a lifetime opportunity to rethink our relationship to energy, she is dedicated to doing the work necessary to ensure our future is more just, democratic, and sustainable.
2022-Present
Mike recently retired from a 40 year career in the Boulder high tech community. He spent his career in design and development and is looking forward to helping take complex technical issues regarding sustainability and summarizing them in a simple, clear and concise manner. Mike has volunteered over the years with Boulder Partners youth group, E town, Boulder community cycles and the Boulder International Film festival. He and his wife have always been passionate about the environment and are avid hikers, cyclists, travelers, and share a love for wildlife as well as their pets.

Megan’s personal mission is to identify win-win solutions that benefit both people and the environment. She believes that the key to a sustainable future lies in making environmentally beneficial decisions the obvious and desirable choices for individuals. By fostering common interests, promoting community education and engagement, and highlighting the true societal costs of our decisions—both big and small—we can make an impactful change for a healthier planet. Megan is a data analyst for a consulting and engineering firm working on clean energy and transportation projects. In her free time, Megan enjoys skiing, hiking, running, gardening, playing with her dog, and coaching girls lacrosse at Mead high school.

Ursula is an assistant professor at Colorado State University, teaching courses in Oceanography and Global Environmental Systems. Passionate about the environment, she emphasizes sustainability and the importance of making a difference in her classes. During her three voyages with Semester at Sea, a program that sails with undergraduate students worldwide, Ursula witnessed firsthand the global impacts of climate change and human activities on the environment. These experiences deepened her commitment to inspiring change and advocating for a more resilient and sustainable world. In her free time, Ursula enjoys hiking, snowshoeing, and capturing the beauty of nature through photography.
July 2023 – Present
Gina joined SRL as the Events Coordinator in July 2023 and has since organized Electrify Longmont, the Longmont Sustainability Awards, and Longmont Earth Day. She is the chair of the Earth Action Team and works with the Board on various projects such as website updates, newsletter writing, marketing, and grant writing. Outside of SRL, Gina currently serves on 4 local boards and committees, in addition to homeschooling her twin daughters. Prior to joining SRL, Gina had a leading role on a local non-profit parents group board for 5 years. Her educational background is a PhD in environmental geochemistry from Old Dominion University, followed by a Postdoctoral fellowship at Colorado State University. You will often see Gina riding around Longmont on her cargo bike. In her spare time, she enjoys growing her own food in her 23 raised bed garden, knitting apparel, hiking the many trails in Colorado, and traveling the world.
