The Zero Waste Team

Longmont is one of many communities across the country and around the world working towards zero waste as an integral component of a healthy, sustainable planet, and the Zero Waste Action Team is part of this movement in our community. Promoting recycling and composting at the end of a product’s life cycle is a key part of the Zero Waste Action Team’s mission, but our concept of zero waste goes beyond to encompass the entire life cycle of a product, beginning with product design and producer responsibility. We envision the use and management of materials in ways that preserve value, minimize environmental impacts, and conserve natural resources.

The Zero Waste Committee now meets on Zoom on the third Tuesday of the month from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. RSVP to get the link

Our work currently includes the following:

  • Advocacy with Longmont government
  • Waste diversion in the community
  • Community clean-ups
  • Educational events
